Being alive is EXCITING! - be excited

Here's today's song. Take a deep breath, chill a bit and face the Sun.

I made my mind to post something (extraordinarily for me, before one month has passed again...) AND I have to admit that at the moment my calendar is probably already overbooked and if I know myself at all, I have at least 2 things on top of each other coming up! I don't mind, everything'll be alright in the end, jus' goin' on with da flow !

Future:

  • Rotary camp on the beach
  • Baking stuff with exchangers ( it's going to be interesting :D )
  • Going swimming often enough not to get a massive belly
  • Going kayaking with my uncle (Aussie uncle [who is awesome] )
  • Just sayin' we're havin' the camp again, it is awesomeness
  • Beach in various locations with various people
  • Sydney over Xmas and new year!
Okay so that's the big picture of my summer, not including all the cool stuff I'm going to do without warning (this includes most of the stuff I do in general)

I'm totally loving life atm, I finished my yr11 exams and after yr12 headstart week it's school holidays! (and yes you Finnish people who wonder this, I'm going on yr3 after Xmas!) (and we get yr12 jackets!!!!)

AND I went to this awesome Polish festival on Fed Square and caught up with a heap of friends there, the day was magnificent! I of course, being a true blood Pole, had my Polish flags on my cheeks!

The pictures down below aren't really related to anything I wrote about (except for the polish one) but they show little bits and pieces of what I've done.

so there we were!

BAKING... something... I felt useful for once !

Forever alone, I had my time of reading the paper

Ice skating, I'm not sure if i wrote about it but yes we went ice skating!!!

Pool party at Maud's palace (she's an exchanger)

I recon I articulate very badly x)

(and now you're already opening google translator )

Til' next time, take care all of ya! xx

It starts to look like paradise

Soooo much has happened since I last wrote so I'm going to sum up only some of the most recent happenings!!!

I went to ADELAIDE with my host parents! Ade was just spectacular, met my auntie and some cousins ( add the word 'host' if you want to ) and it is surprising how many Polish people can you find from there! My parents are from a polish background so almost all the family and friends we met were somehow related to Poland! Awesomeness! Another surprising fact about Adelaide is that OMG it is flat. No skyscrapers anywhere near that part of the world I recon. (Unlike Melbourne which, of course is better in every other way too!)

The next day after the first night in sweet small Adelaide, we headed (me head first, my mum just driving the car) to MURRAY BRIDGE which is my bestest finlanderish mate's Teppo Lindberg aka Lehmusvuori's hometown here Dowwwwn Underrr! Which is awesome.! So the first day there after really realizing we two are together once again, we went to the 'center' of MB! In other words there's one main street with Maccas, KFC and Subway and that's pretty much it, what a lovely place to live in indeed!!! (Population was smthin' like 25000 people and a few kangaroos) ANYWAYS because I'm normal I voluntarily went to school with Tebo the next day! It is just amazing how in these small places everyone knows the monkey and the monkey also knows everyone! So the day pretty much went pass along with allllll those manymanymany people Teppo hugged or made me to hug too (it was awesome as!)! And in the evening we had a desperate try of destroying a 24 pack of Solo (lemon & lime, just not to be mainstream) (and because it was cheap!!!) and well let's put it this way: 12x0.375 = 4.5 litres per head! We managed til can number 3 until we felt too ill to continue... And just to mention, this was around 9pm on the riverside of Murray River, there actually was almost as much mozzies as you can find from Lapland! We ended up givin' away free solo's to everyone who was brave enough to take one! (many people took one, maybe they know the value of that stuff in the little city :P )

Carrying on to Adelaide after crying our hearts out on the time of depart, the last night in the 'big A' was OPERA, spelled o-p-e-r-a, not OPRAH! and the magnificent act we saw was Carmen, really enjoyable and heaps fun when your host dad falls asleep before you do! I highly recommend everyone to culturize themselves and take a look @ that thing!

Back in Melbourne (a couple days ago) school holidays are coming up fast as light (from very far away in that case) and now the only thing is to struggle thru final examinations! Thought I should be getting good marks and exceeding expectations just by showing up to those things!

Time is mostly being spent catching up with mates and swimming and lying on the beach and enjoying life! You always find something new in the city! Like today, a reeeally nice surprise was when my Finnish nowadays one of best friends Iris(!!!!) walked up on me in the city and oh god, she has birthdays today, you all ought to say happy bday to her! (in your native languages, of course, just for the impression)

Next Sunday is going to be wicked 'cause of the Polish day on Fed square!!! Looking fwd to see some Polish dancing and all that sorta things!!!!

There's some pictures down below from my time in down under! If you feel like seeing more, visit facebook and have a look at my pictures, not really hard to spot the ones worth looking for!

ps. English really starts to get the control over me now! Along the 2 days with Teppo we tried to speak FINNISH several times, with no success, it is HARD!

Long time no write, no time no do

FINALLY managed to gain enough energy (among the weight too :D) to write my blog again!

So so much has happened, I most probably wont remember everything but tryin' my best anyways.

So the weekend before my birthday which was 5th Sept I went to the snow!!! Believe it or not, most probably not but I went to the snow! I WENT SKIING! I GOT TELEMARKS! *ahem* yes so I was pretty pumped for that wkend cause I didnt expect to find snow from this country. BUT I DID! HA HA! I won! And the trip itself was amazing!! We jumped in the car with 4 brasilian exchangers and my rotary counselor. After some 3hours driving we got to the place where we were going to sleep and live for the wkend! And we also hired ski gear (at 9pm, you can imagine the face of the guy in the ski hire when he saw 4 yelling brazzies and a finn rushing in to the place...) which was fun - brasilians had never tried ski boots on, that is pretty hard !

Next morning was the time to head to the mountain! I don't think it was so cold but the brasilians still wore their ski equipment all the way from bed to bed again! Gettin' the idea of the amount of fun I had there? (Just lettin' ya's know that I'm used to that Finlands -20 degrees when I ski... Now it was something like 5 positive) Skiing itself was just wonderful, as it always is! Watchin' brazzies havin' their ski lesson and taking photos of them going down made my day. In the end of the day all brazilians were able to ski down all the green slopes which was pretty good for first time skiers! Good effort!

Second day - TELEMARK! I was in my element when I saw the tellys under my feet and yeah, it was as awesome as it always is! AND I got one picture taken of miself skiing, just to prove that I really did something too. The last day (sunday) while driving back from the snow place after saying long goodbyes to the rotarians that kindly hosted us there, we had our compulsory Maccas stop. After that, in the night we were waiting in enthusiasm for the day to change.... 10 points question why! It was my bday on monday!!! SO I got immediate happy birthdays and a nice song (in english and brazilian (portugese) )! Overall a lovely trip!! Pics below

THE following week went casually and I somehow don't have many memories from that BUT I remember that in the thursdays rotary meeting (where I go every week) was this guy called Andrew Jobling - most inspiring and motivating speaker, I highly recommend. I actually bought his book Dance until it rains. I'm probably a weirdo cause the book sounded like an old peoples have-a-good-live-when-u-do-this kinda things but it's not that bad.

Saturday 11th Sept I had my birthday party with exchangers around Melbourne, again, they made my day and I felt very special. Approximately 10 or so exchangers stayed the night so we had a great time in the morning too, first mates left at 8 and I of course woke up for them, I didn't even want that sleep... pics below

LAST WEEK was amazing! I normally wear my school uniform 4 times a week because on wednesdays I wear the sports uniform. Last week... once. I had two amazing excursions; one to a forest some bloody long way from our school. The forest was... well a forest BUT the group we had there was the best - counting plants with them was not that bad.
Second excursion I had was Outdoor Ed excursion! WE WENT ROCK CLIMBING! I was pretty excited for that too, I love climbing. The trip was a great success and all of us did very good! Couldn't have had a better day, sun was shining and it was nice and warm. Pics below

This weekend then again, I catched up with my finnish friend Iris who is here, that lazy girl... She actually works as an au pair BUT so far it sounds more like a holiday for her! Workdays are something like 5 hours and free weekends! That's just good cause she has the time to drive me all around Melbourne then! We also bought these abseiling/roof jumping thingys! Simply it is 3 jumps off a small skyscraper in Melbourne! Looking forward! Pics below soon

AND last but deeeeefinitely not least, I spent my sunday with my good exchanger friend from Sweden! We're like neighbours! And we went climbing! The place was in Nunawading, the most strange name for a suburb... Well anyways the place was amazing, you'll find out, pics below

I'm also looking forward to next week because WE HAVE HOLIDAYS finally!!! It's going to be amazing! And after that we start term 4 in school which is summer term --> summer uniform!

And just sayin', we're gonna have a Great Ocean walk/surf trip for 3 days with Outdoor Ed after the holidays.... excited??!?!? naa.... jokes, YES!!

Gettin' into it

HEYY my fellow readers, it's been a while again since I last wrote anything, sorry mates. But now, it's time to share some of my new memories with you!

Last weekend was absolutely a m a z i n g ! I was in our schools Deb (presentation ball) but only as a guest. Luckily for those who paid 90 bucks for the ticket to watch their friends dancing, were offered a chance to join the party laters when the music was tuned on to suit us younger ones!!! After 2 hours of intense dancing and having fun it was time to leave Moonee Valley Racecourt and rock up to James' place where we had awesome afterparty (without alcohol mates) ! The pool was freezing, still can't understand why we jumped in 4 times!!?
You only live once so make the most of it!

While birthday is getting closer, I'm waiting for that weird feeling to be heaps older again but without my loved brother Aapo Lahdenkauppi.

I recon I'm getting used to this Aussie life, it's just as wonderful as I assumed it to be! Also the spring is just around the corner and it's going to be mad!!! I can almost hear the beaches calling for me already...

When other people are just rocking on the day, others go to sleep. At the moment I count myself to those who need a tad sleep!

Comment and enjoy your life folks :)

Time flies

In my head, 1 week...
In real life, 4 weeks!!!

It's really scary to notice that I've already been here for 4 weeks!! I've done a lot and I'm about to do even more!
From my morning train to Watergardens, it's pretty freaky to sit in the train alone  :D

Weekend has been amazing:

Friday was a relaxing chilling evening with family. Did all kind of fun stuff with my family, mostly with my host sisters, love them! :) I have nothing more to say about Friday, it was a nice and quiet eve.

On Saturday I was on a birthday lunch of my friends, we had the best time ever!!! We went with trains to the "rich" part of the city, South Yarra. There is probably the most expensive shopping street in Melbourne and of course our restaurant was on that street! It was a really really nice place and the food was so good! And yes, it is able even for a little guy to eat Club Sandwich which was massive!! After the lunch we ( there was 18 of us <3) just walked around South Yarra, pretty headless wandering I say. But we had a good time anyways!

Then today, Sunday! I was about to go climbing with my good friend from Denmark but she wasn't able to join me today, maybe some other day! I changed my plans and headed towards the Ocean Grove beach with my host dad, mum and sister! We stopped several times to watch the view and to do some other kind of things (read, buying mussels... ) We got to the beach and I fell in love! I love beaches!!! The sounds of waves crashing and water flowing against your feet, absolutely amazing! And the Sun was shining!!! Greatest fun in long time.
I <3 the beach.

Don't be afraid to comment my writings, I won't bite ( I'm too far away) :)

Love,
Jaakko
